Inspired by the 507 of the 1950s, Henrik Fisker designed the BMW Z8 and the the Alpina version debuted in 2003 after standard Z8 production ended. This example is finished in Jet Black (668), and features include aluminum body panels mounted to an aluminum space frame, a black convertible soft top, neon tail lights and turn indicators, xenon headlights, side vents incorporating BMW roundels, and polished twin exhaust outlets. A removable body-color hardtop is included along with a storage stand and an Alpina top cover.
Staggered-width 20 wheels wearing Alpina-logo center caps are fitted with 255/35 front and 285/30 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires that were replaced in June 2020, 14 miles ago. The four-wheel disc brake system is equipped with Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), and the Alpina model received a softer suspension compared to the standard Z8.
The interior features heated and power-adjustable seats upholstered in creme and black Nappa leather. The creme upholstery extends to the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Amenities include a keyless-entry system, an electrically adjustable steering column, air conditioning, and a factory stereo with navigation and a CD changer.
A plaque mounted between the seats identifies this chassis as #375 of 555 in the series
The three-spoke steering wheel with Switch-Tronic shift buttons fronts an Alpina-branded gear indicator and centralized blue-dialed instrumentation that includes a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates approximately 2,750 miles.
The 4.8-liter M62 V8 was tuned by Alpina to produce 375 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, and it is 90 pounds lighter than the standard Z8's 4.9-liter V8. Features include double VANOS variable valve timing, individual throttle bodies, a double-row timing chain, and hollow camshafts.
